Our Spring Break and Summer Camps are the perfect opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence, make new friends, and experience the fun and excitement of performing on camera!
Whether your child is stepping in front of the camera for the very first time or already has acting experience, our week-long Camps provide a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment where students can explore their creativity, challenge themselves, and have a whole lot of fun along the way.
Our Camps are open to students of all experience levels. Beginners will learn the foundations of on-camera acting and gain confidence in front of the camera, while more experienced students can sharpen their skills, explore more advanced techniques, and take their craft to the next level.
And it’s not all about acting! Camps are a wonderful way for kids and teens to step outside their comfort zone, connect with others, express themselves, and discover just how much they’re capable of.
Whether they’re dreaming of working in film and television or simply looking for a fun and creative way to spend their school break, VYAS Camps are an experience they won’t forget!
DAY TO DAY BREAKDOWN
DAY 1: INTRODUCTION & SCENE ANALYSIS
We’ll start by getting to know each other and creating a fun, supportive camp environment. Then it’s time to dive into text analysis, learning how to break down a scene, understand what’s happening, discover what your character wants, and explore why the scene unfolds the way it does. In the afternoon, you’ll put those skills into practice by filming audition scenes on camera!
DAY 2: SCENE STUDY & CHARACTER EXPLORATION
Building on what you learned on Day 1, you’ll jump into scene work designed to encourage creativity and character exploration. Working with a scene partner, you’ll use workshop exercises and acting techniques to discover your character, make choices, and bring your scene to life.
DAY 3: ON-CAMERA AUDITION TECHNIQUE
Time to get in front of the camera! You’ll work on audition and on-camera techniques using a scene provided ahead of time so you can prepare before class. You’ll film your audition, receive direction and feedback, watch your performance back, make adjustments, and film again, just like the process actors experience in the real world.
DAY 4: IN-DEPTH SCENE STUDY
Now it’s time to take your scene work even further. You’ll workshop previously assigned scenes, dive deeper into your characters, explore different choices, and bring your scenes to life with your scene partners. Depending on your group’s progress, you may even get the opportunity to film your completed scenes!
DAY 5: FINAL MOCK CASTING
Put everything you’ve learned into practice! Your final day will feature a mock casting session, where you’ll complete an on-camera audition and experience what it’s like to audition for a real project. You’ll receive feedback and redirects from your instructor, make adjustments, and film your audition again.
We’ll wrap up the week with a discussion about the business of acting, including what comes next if you’re interested in pursuing acting professionally, and the steps you can take to continue developing your skills.
