Our Spring Break and Summer Camps offer the potential to not only learn new skills but to also make new friends and experience the fun and excitement of performing on camera! Our week-long Camps will not disappoint! Camps are a safe, open, and supportive space to express creativity and are a great learning environment to start acting or take your skills up a notch. Our Camps are open to students of all experience levels. Beginners will learn the foundations of on-camera acting, while advanced students will take their craft to the next level, giving them that extra edge in future auditions.

All camps at VYAS cost $499/week
GROUP BREAKDOWN:
Camp groups are always split into age appropriate classes. Students usually won’t be in class with anyone 4 over years older or younger than them. It will always depend on the age of students who register.

DAY to DAY BREAKDOWN:
DAY 1: INTRODUCTION
Everyone gets to know each other. Then we get started with text analysis to break down scenes and understand what’s happening in a scene and why it’s happening. You’ll then film audition scenes in the afternoon!
DAY 2: SCENE STUDY
You’ll take what you learned yesterday and jump into some basic scenes to encourage creativity and character exploration. You’ll work with a scene partner and bring scenes to life through workshop exercises.
DAY 3: ON-CAMERA AUDITION
We’ll get you on camera today to work audition and camera techniques. You’ll receive a scene ahead of time to prepare to today’s class. You’ll film, workshop, watch back and film again!
DAY 4: IN DEPTH SCENE STUDY
Building on what you learnt on day 2, you workshop previously assigned scenes and bring them to life and present scenes in class. If ready, you’ll filming them!
DAY 5: FINAL AUDITION
Today is your final audition day. You’ll present an on camera audition in a real life mock casting session. You’ll be given feedback and re directs form your instructor and film again. Finally, we’ll discuss the business of acting and what steps to take moving forward if acting is something you want to pursue!

WEEK 1 - July 7-11
We kick off summer with a bang, working on scenes from shows that you love seeing on YTV! If you are a huge fan of Spongebob, Buffy and Arnold, then this is the perfect place for you! Each day you will get a chance to work on camera with real scripts for the same characters that you see on TV. Campers will learn to embody those characters, understand their background, and portray them on screen. I'm ready!
WEEK 2 - July 14-18
There are so many amazing movies and TV shows filmed in Vancouver, and for this week we will be working the scripts from those films so that you are ready for action when you get the call! On a daily basis you will learn the tone of those different shows, how the characters should feel and sound, and truly understand what casting directors are looking for when they are casting for actors on those shows!
WEEK 3 - July 21-26
Disney is one of our favourite weeks here at VYAS, and we will be teaching you what it is like to be on your favourite shows! From animated series and movies, to live action features, you will get a chance to experience it all. Using the actual scripts from those shows, you will have an amazing time learning what it takes to star in film and television. By the end of the week, you will be able to master scenes so that you can Ride Like the Wind!
WEEK 4 - July 28-August 1
Lots of amazing movies are TV shows are based around music and singing characters, so this week we work scripts from shows like High School Musical and Hannah Montana! While we will leave the singing portions to someone else, in camp this week you will learn to embody those characters speaking lines from some of your favourite shows. This fun and engaging week will take your acting skills up a note!
WEEK 5 - August 11-15
Have you ever wanted to star in Pixar movie? Seriously, who hasn't?! Here is your chance to work on popular scripts from some of your favourite films like Up, Inside Out, and Cars. We will take a live-action approach to these animated features, and put you on camera as some of your favourite characters. This week at camp is a tonne of fun, but will also teach you what it takes to have the skills required to be in shows at this highest level. Ka-chow!
WEEK 6 - August 18-22
Villains week at VYAS will help you find the depth in all characters... even when they are the bad guy! Campers will work from real scripts from movies and TV shows that are based around having a villain as the central character, learning to truthfully embody those characters, and deliver a well-rounded performance on camera. A fun week for everyone, and we all secretly have a soft spot for Hook, Gru, and the Grinch, though right?!?
WEEK 7 - August 25-29
We finish up summer in style with a beach-themed week, working on scripts from movies and TV shows set around water. From movies featuring your favourite forgetful fish, to TV shows that allow you to live the Suite Life, there is so much fun to be had! We will use the real scripts from those shows to teach you the tones of each one and help you accurately portray those characters. Just keep act-ing, just keep act-ing...!
